Being in your 20s may leave you in a panic to start on skincare, and with millions of products out there, it’s so daunting to get started. Well, I did the research and testing so you don’t have to.

Keep reading to learn my 4-step skincare routine (using products all totaling under $60) that is so simple I actually do it twice a day! I take so much pride in my skin now that I rarely miss a routine.
P.S. Skincare is not only for your face! Be sure to apply down the neck and even to the chest.
Ok let’s jump into the 4 steps now…
Step 1: Facial Cleanser & Makeup Remover
Every skincare routine starts with a clean face. Find a cleanser suitable for your skin type. I love the cleanser I linked because it effectively removes dirt, oil, and makeup.
This oil-free cleanser works well for my acne-prone, combination skin. If you have dry skin, you may want to find an alternative that contains oil!
Should you cleanse once or double cleanse? What the heck is double cleansing you ask?!
When you wear makeup, it’s best to double cleanse at night–once to remove the makeup and immediately again to really cleanse your skin this time.
Step 2: 100% Pure Organic Rose Water Toner
After your face is cleansed, use a toner to even out your skin tone. This rose water toner will reduce redness and skin irritation and leave your skin looking refreshed.
Step 3: Anti Aging Serum 3-Pack for Face – Vitamin C Serum, Retinol Serum, Hyaluronic Acid Serum
The third step is applying your serums. This 3-pack is a game changer for a skincare beginner in their 20s, who wants to get started but is not invested enough to spend the big bucks on fancy products yet.
A million YouTube videos later, I found this serum application order to be the most effective. (FYI: There is a lot that goes into which serum you should apply first, so trust me on this one.)
Daytime: Apply Vitamin C then Hyaluronic Acid.
Nighttime: Apply Hyaluronic Acid then Retinol.
Note: It’s important to research Retinol and test it since it does not agree with all skin types. Here are some tips I learned along the way to prevent irritation:
- Start using Retinol once a week and build up your use
- Let your skin dry before applying
- Do not apply over thin skin, such as around your eyes
- Only use Retinol at night and always apply SPF the following day
Bottom line: Retinol should NEVER cause you discomfort. I don’t have sensitive skin, and I can use this Retinol serum everyday without drying out or irritating my skin.
Step 4: Daytime Sunscreen Moisturizer & Nighttime Moisturizer
The fourth and final step in your simple skin care routine is a moisturizer.
You NEED to wear a SPF moisturizer during the day no matter if you are outside, by a window inside, or staring at your computer screen all day. WEAR SPF MOISTURIZER EVERY SINGLE DAY. At night, you can use a regular moisturizer!
I recommend this combo moisturizer pack to get the SPF moisturizer for daytime and regular moisturizer for nighttime.
Now say hello to gorgeous, glowing skin!
For under $60 to purchase all new products, you too can find this routine simple enough to get started as a beginner to skincare! My skincare routine has become a habit I can’t ever see giving up. Take time for self-care, and you’ll see results beyond glowing skin.
